An Anglesey gimlet

by | Feb 8, 2021

INGREDIENTS

Serves 1

  • 15g caster sugar
  • 25ml lime juice (approx 3 limes)
  • 50ml Jin Môr
  • Ice

This classic 19th century cocktail offers a sharp citrus hit, with the slight hint of saltiness from the Jin Môr coming to the party. Add a few drops of bitters and this is known as a Bennett.

Like most cocktails, best drunk ice cold with warm company.

If you remember, put a glass in the freezer.

Put the sugar and 15ml of water in a small saucepan and place on a medium heat until the water dissolves. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

Put 10ml of the cooled simple syrup, the lime juice, gin and a large cube of ice into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Taste. Add the rest of the simple syrup, or more lime.

Strain into a chilled glass.
