We’ve won a traveller’s choice award 2022!

by | Sep 22, 2022

Every year, Tripadvisor celebrates attractions that consistently deliver brilliant experiences with a Travellers’ Choice Award—and this year, we are proud to say we are part of an exclusive group, ranking among the top 10% of listings on Tripadvisor.

Our one-of-a-kind tour is recommended for anyone interested in salt’s place in our history, culture, food and in what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt a world-famous seasoning. We finish with a tutored sea salt tasting.

Our innovative building is nestled in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and houses a contemporary gift shop too, full of wares from near and far (you don’t need to book a tour to visit the shop.) We also have an outdoor cafe – Tide/ Llanw – which always has cover from the elements in our tipi surrounded by a wild flower meadow, and plenty of  home-made cakes and hot drinks.

A recent tour review:

I persuaded my husband and our 4 friends to do the tour but was a bit worried that they would give me some stick for it being a bit dry. How wrong could I be!

Rob delivered a really interesting and informative presentation and it was lovely to see how passionate he is about his job and the company.

I had no idea that salt could pack so much flavour if produced with so much care and how many varieties there are and the range of products it is used for.

The tour has completely changed my view and will certainly change my shopping habits. The shop had lots of different types of sea salt and a wide range of other lovely items too. We all bought more than we expected to! A great experience and thoroughly recommended.” @Mr-and-Mrs-CP, Tripadvisor, 4th July 2022.

Excellent tour and great shop We both found the tour and the background to the origins of Halen Mon fascinating. The tasting was really interesting. The only downside is that we spent a fortune in the shop - and could have spent more (we had to draw the line at the gin 🙁 ). Well worth a visit

Fab place! Interesting tour and lovely shop. Really enjoyed this informative and friendly tour by Rob. The wheelchair access was very good, as was the attitude of staff. It was fascinating to see how the sea salt is harvested and to taste the salt, too! We loved the little 'pinch of salt' tins that you get to keep. The gift shop is stocked with a select range of super stylish items - we will be returning later in the year to do our Christmas shopping! If you are in the area this place is definitely worth a visit.

Salty Taste We did a 11am Tour on Sunday with Rob. We were a bit early and took a little walk down the road. Once open we booked on to the tour to find we were the only two people on the tour. Our tour guide was Rob who was so welcoming and friendly. The tour was very informative and Rob was very enthusiastic which was lovely. I didn’t realise the process of salt making and how it’s produced and so many other interesting facts.Definitely recommend going and the drive to it is beautiful.

A unique experience - fun and informative I did the salt tour and tasting, it was so interesting. I highly recommend it, and also recommend the shop which has a vast array of gifts and products (including smokey water for cooking, and many types of salt and Welsh food). It is also in an area which has beautiful views across to Bangor.

Sea salt - the story This is a great place to visit. Rob was our guide and his knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for his product made for an entertaining and interesting tour. The tasting at the end to compare the quality of Haley Mon salt and commercial brands as well as trying the delicious salted caramel sauce and Jin Mor provided an opportunity to try before you buy. The shop is well stocked and tempting. Definitely recommend a visit to hear the inspirational story behind Haley Mon.

A fascinating tour, enjoyed by all (teenagers, through twenty-somethings, to us old folk) This was an absolutely fascinating excursion into the world of salt. Who knew it could be so interesting? Our guide, Rob, was clearly an expert in his field. No question was too challenging (even when the answer was “It’s a trade secret”) and his enthusiasm and relaxed style was clear to see.If you have a couple of hours to spare on Anglesey, this is a great way to fill them. And yes, salt tasting is a thing.

Great visit, shop and tour We had a great time visiting Halen Mon. The tour was really interesting with salt tasting included (clearly highlighting the quality of their product). Rob our tour guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable about the production process and his enthusiasm and passion for both the product and the brand really shone through. Fab shop full of lots of luxury product. Very clean and well organised. Would recommend a visit here.
