WHAT TO EXPECT

We are proud to have won a Traveller’s Choice award, for being rated among the top 10% of TripAdvisor’s listings in 2025.

Our award-winning Saltcote is a unique building on the banks of the of Menai Strait in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We are one of Wales’ most innovative food businesses, and offer a one-of-a-kind Behind the Scenes tour for anyone interested in salt’s place in our history, culture and in what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt PDO so special.

Led by an expert guide (read more about them here) the tour lasts approx 45 minutes and finishes with a tutored salt tasting.

Please note our sea salt harvesting takes place at specific times of the day, so unfortunately it won’t always be possible to watch it happening ‘live.’

As well as being where we make our sea salt, our Saltcote is home to a contemporary, design-led gift shop, which you are welcome to visit even if not booked on to a tour. There are giftsets galore if you are looking to buy our sea salt as a gift, and we hope it is more exciting than a classic sea salt factory shop!

Unfortunately it is not possible to bring dogs on the tour as we are a food production site.

Rob and the team very much look forward to welcoming you to the Saltcote.

Our tours offer a behind-the-scenes look at how our award-winning sea salt is made. You’ll learn about our unique process, the history of the business, and what makes Anglesey’s seawater so special. There’s also the chance for you to taste just what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt PDO so special.

Tours are approximately 45 mins including a behind the scenes look at our salt cote and a tutored salt tasting.

Yes, we recommend booking in advance as spaces are limited and tours can fill up quickly, especially during weekends and holidays.

We aim to make our tours as accessible as possible. Our site, shop and tours are fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Unfortunately it is not possible to bring dogs on the tour as we are a food production site. However, assistant dogs are welcome.
