The importance of quiet
Spending time in silence or quiet has been central to lots of spiritual and religious practices for thousands of years. Meditation, prayer or heading into nature alone was seen as an important part of our wellbeing. Nowadays, modern life can make it feel instead like an emptiness that needs filling, but we want to celebrate peace and quiet here at Halen Môn.
Quiet seaweed bathing
The benefits of seaweed bathing have been well-known for centuries. The mineral-dense oils are incredibly moisturising, it’s brilliantly soothing and a great way to relax sore muscles. The experience is totally natural – the ingredients are 100% organic seaweed and warm water.
This year, we’re adding another level of restorative rest and relaxation with our Quiet Sessions. An opportunity to soak up some peace and quiet while you bathe. Enjoy a quiet session, where we ask all guests to keep conversation to an absolute minimum for maximum rest.
When things are quiet, we can focus on the beautiful sights and sounds around us, and when that’s in a warm barrel in an Area of Outstanding Beauty it can make for a truly restorative ritual that will, quite simply, make you feel wonderful.

A moment of peace and quiet has a lot of well known benefits, for our minds and our bodies.
De-stress your mind and body
The constant noise of everyday life can contribute to high stress levels. Quiet spaces can reduce stress and help us relax by grounding our bodies and allowing us to settle into a calm environment, like our seaweed baths. A moment of quiet or silence helps us to release tensions that we don’t even know we’re holding.
Bathe in nature
The sounds of nature are believed to be beneficial to the brain, an essential nutrient that we need to think, according to Richard Cytowic, professor of neurology at George Washington University and author of Your Stone Age Brain in the Screen Age: Coping with Digital Distraction and Sensory Overload.
Some time spent quietly will let you hear those sounds of nature that are so easy to miss when running around in daily life.
Surrounding ourselves in nature helps us to put things in perspective and can calm the mind and body.

Improve focus
A moment of quiet lets us listen to our bodies and be in the moment without distractions. Many of us need distractions and background noise to relax but our brains aren’t made for constant stimulation. Putting aside small breaks from these distractions is thought to be good for our well-being.
Even 10 minutes of quiet a day helps, this could be as simple as switching off the TV for 10 minutes or heading out for a walk without our phones.
Mood-lifting
A quiet moment in nature can lift our moods and help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.
