Tŷ Halen, our new award-winning Saltcote and Visitor Centre, is a unique £1.25m bespoke building. It is a first for Anglesey, Wales and the UK, and lies on the banks of the Menai Strait in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, next door to Anglesey Sea Zoo in Brynsiencyn.
Our one-of-a-kind behind the scenes tour is recommended for anyone interested in salt’s place in our history, culture, food and in what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt PDO the world’s finest seasoning. Led by a trained guide (read more about them here) the tour includes a tutored salt tasting and lasts approximately 50 minutes. The experience offers visitors a real flavour of our company and a chance to chat with members of staff. (Read our Tripadvisor page for the latest reviews.)
In addition to a home for our hand-harvesting process, our Saltcote has a contemporary, design-led gift shop and plenty of parking for both cars and bikes. We also sell our own home-grown mussels when the season permits.
We are open between 10am-5pm every day all year (except for a 12-day closure over the Christmas and New Year period). Tours run everyday at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Please book by phone on 01248 430871 if doing so on the day, or drop us an email if you’d like to book in advance: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure you book in advance if you have a voucher.
Our shop is open 10am-5pm every day for those who just want to stock-up on the best seasoning money can buy.
Charges: Adults: £6.00, Seniors, Children and Local Residents: £4.50. (Whilst children are welcome to join the tour, it is primarily designed for adults. The charge for 8 years plus reflects this.) We very much look forward to welcoming you.
